Charity Work
The Bowdoin Group is committed to playing an active role in the communities where we live and work. Our goal is to make a significant impact on the lives of others on an individual basis and together as a company.
Our most successful and rewarding collective effort is the company’s quarterly Volunteer Day. Every quarter, The Bowdoin Group spends a paid work day gathering at an area non-profit organization to lend a hand. Past Volunteer Days have been held at Community Servings, Greater Boston Food Bank, and The Samaritans.
On an individual level, members of the Bowdoin Group are given 20 hours of work time off a year to volunteer at a local charity of their choosing. Recently, a group of volunteers from the Bowdoin Group have joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Boston and are currently paired with Little Brothers at Nativity Prep School in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. A group of Big Brothers from The Bowdoin Group visit Nativity Prep twice a month and spend lunch time one-on-one with their Little Brothers. We spend time talking, playing games, and providing a meaningful friendship to these children.
In addition to volunteering our time, The Bowdoin Group also provides financial support to several charitable organizations including The McCourt Foundation (www.mccourtfoundation.org) and International Rett Syndrome Foundation (www.rettsyndrome.org).
The Bowdoin Group understands that responsible stewardship of the environment is a sound ethical, as well as business, practice. As part of our green initiative, we donate our recycled plastic and aluminum to Cans for Charity (www.cansforcharity.org), and we consult with an external corporate sustainability firm to find ways to reduce our energy and water consumption and waste.
